Tobacco Heritage Trail Spans Mecklenburg and Brunswick Counties

Long distance runners and riders listen up!

Start your endurance training and toning those muscles, because soon you will be able to make an inter-county run or ride from Mecklenburg to Brunswick.

Construction began this past summer 2012, to connect the existing La Crosse/Brodnax trail to Lawrenceville making that section of the THT 17 miles long!

Does that sound like a nice day trip? Pack a sack lunch and enjoy resting at one of the new picnic tables along the trail, get out your camera and take pictures of interesting flowers and mushrooms you discover, or test your fitness with a challenging time limited run.

Things to expect from this trail:

  • La Crosse residents and visitors will be able to enjoy roller blading, or taking family walks with a baby stroller, because the La Crosse section of the trail will be paved this Fall.  That will fix the run-out section near the Industrial Park.
  • Also in La Crosse, the trail is being extended towards South Hill and signage has been posted along Rocky Branch and Goodes Ferry Rd through South Hill towards Boydton!
  • Brodnax residents will be able to take the trail east to Lawrenceville. Several amenities will be on this stretch of trail including Sweet Smelling toilets, benches, picnic tables, hitching posts and Crepe Myrtles planted along the way.
  • Trail users will enjoy a long stretch of wilderness. This is a chance to see some birds and wildlife that can’t be seen in town.
  • Expect a view from the river! A three hundred foot bridge will span the scenic Meherrin River.
